Power Hour

This class is taught by:

Kendall Beene

Kendall Beene has been teaching yoga for eleven years. Her background is in Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, and Baptiste Power Yoga. She has trained with many teachers, but counts David Swenson, Stephanie Keach, and Baron Baptiste as her most influential teachers. Kendall teaches yoga because she can’t imagine how she would navigate this crazy world without it and her life is a crusade to share yoga’s power with anyone who will listen to her! Kendall’s secret superpower is parallel parking her minivan while children either chatter or argue in the backseat. Her guilty pleasure is unquestionably good ice cream and silly comedies- together. Her favorite pose changes and morphs but she comes back to half moon again and again for its indulgent and delicious edges… and she believes that the very best thing about yoga is its ability to wake up the amazing potential in all of us!

Christina Kilby

Christina has practiced yoga since 2008 when she began a Bikram class at Young Harris College. She began practicing Baptiste in Savannah as a counter for running and it stuck. She loves teaching yoga as a way to deepen her student's practices while creating a space of complete presence and supporting others.

Christina's secret superpower is teaching high schoolers while sneaking in yoga lingo and calm. Her most favorite thing is coaxing others into practicing with her in the studio - especially her rugby loving boyfriend before his tournaments three times a year #guiltypleasure. There's nothing better than finishing class with a first timer who is blissed out and fired up to practice again.

Cara Griffin

Growing up in Alabama, being barefoot came naturally to Cara. She teaches a yoga that practices the art of liberation. Lovingly nicknamed as "the artistic expression executive", she creatively explores Baptiste sequencing coupled with extensive trainings the movement arts.

“As the mind, so the person, feeling bound or liberated exists only in our minds… if we can learn to train our minds, then there is nothing in this world to bind us” - {adapted}- Sri. Swami Satchidananda

By focusing attention inward, Cara encourages students to discover freedom from mental and physical restrictions. This integrated approach awakens mindfulness while restoring a natural balance. A visual artist by trade, Cara's inspires students to be redesign their minds and become space architects in their bodies.
She feels incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to serve the Dancing Dogs Yoga community by guiding students of all levels through joyful sequencing.

Her superpower?
Pranayama or breath exercises. It's easy to forget the power that our life has inside for us, and training in breath practices, she believes, has the ability to heal most everything.
Her guilty pleasure is forgetting time exists and immersing herself in her paintings. She will swim in any body of water, and always wants to see the world from an aerial perspective and likes her food hot enough to make you cry. Cara feels extremely privileged to be in an environment that always uplifts, always inspires, and always includes. She uses yoga as her platform to change the world by teaching the art of liberation and giving all people a chance to experience that power within themselves.

Jessie Gulliver

Jessie started practicing yoga in 2009 after a drastic lifestyle/career change! A paddle boarder, Jessie was incorporating healthier activities into her world but had not been exposed to yoga until some friends convinced her to try it out.  Yoga became a natural expression and Jessie  became obsessed with SUPY, stand up paddle yoga. She knew that she wanted to bring sup and yoga to a new level but in order to do that she had to get certified in yoga. That's when her life changed forever!

"Yoga became a lifestyle for me! Since then I have gone through SUPY training, Ddy apprentice program and have been consistently teaching yoga for 2 years now! I found my way to baptiste yoga, which has been nothing short of amazing, and with the help of the savannah yoga community have been able to bring sup yoga to the studios and utilize our surroundings to deepen the practice!"

Jessie's secret superpower is her alter ego, Glow Gir.  Glow Girl builds a force field of glow around her tribe Her favorite pose is headstand, or any inversion -- because in this crazy world we live in, Jessie flys to keep balanced and grounded!!

Nikki Baker

Nikki began practicing yoga in 2007. She has bounced around through various studios and styles and finally found a steady home at Dancing Dogs Yoga in 2015. She earned her 200-hr RYT certification in 2015 and immediately began teaching and assisting in the studio. She is currently working on her 500-hr RYT certification, mentors new assistants in the studio, and is part of the teacher training leadership team.
Nikki teaches and assists yoga to create connection with others and within herself.

Nikki says her secret superpower is “my honesty and pride in the hot messiness that is me. I laugh at my own jokes and mistakes (and believe me, I make a lot of both), and I speak about myself personally (poses I love or don't love, struggles I have, and changes I have made). I'm broken and crooked and stuck back together with glitter glue, and I'm ok with that.” Her guilty pleasures are Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, chocolate, and her cat.

Nikki wants everyone to know that she loves DDY “because it is "come as you are". No one is perfect, and that is perfect. We are goofy, messy, appropriately inappropriate, and we love each other for it. We are also strong and lift each other up. This community encourages falling apart in order to grow, no pretenses, no judgment, just encouragement and support.”
